Birds and Buds

I'm having some high blood pressure issues right now and I believe it is causing my head to ache and my eyes to hurt. I haven't been able to visit as much as I'd like on other blogs and I haven't posted in a few days. This post will be brief as well. The Bradford pear buds are about to open.

I took these pictures through the kitchen window. I had never seen a goldfinch eating Bradford pear buds before.

The little chickadee has been a frequent visitor for the last few days, I hadn't seen them for a while and I'm so glad they're back.

The blue bird and the sparrow are still battling over the nesting box. You can see them here together at the box.

The bluebird gave chase and ran off the sparrows.

He sat for a while watching over the nesting box. I checked today and there still isn't any nesting material in the box.

  1. I can commiserate with you and your high blood pressure problems. Me, too. Eat blueberries, walnuts, and sunflower seeds. They help a lot.

You did a great job on your post for not feeling well!

  2. Robin, what wonderful photos of the bluebird!! I would love to have a bluebird in our bluebird house, and I can only dream of getting a picture of one. There's some sticks in the house, but I've not been able to catch any bird of any kind putting them in there.

  8. Sorry to hear that you are not feeling well. At least the weather is fairly cold so you aren't missing too much outdoors. Lovely pics as always - I really do wish I had such gorgeous birds visit my yard - not our usual grackle and dove visitors.

  16. Robin, I meant to comment about the bluebird & sparrow battling it out for your box then got called away. Now I'm back and I just wanted to say, I hope the bluebirds prevail. I can't seem to help myself in that situation, I always interfere. It kills me that the sparrows might chase the bluebirds away so I usually end up chasing off the sparrows and helping the bluebirds out. Let us know who ends up with the box! and I'm glad you're feeling better.
