May Garden Blogger Bloom Day

I can't believe how long it's been since I've done a Garden Blogger Bloom Day post, hosted by Carol of May Dreams Gardens. I faithfully did them for seventeen months, then I missed October and November due to sickness, and then winter set in and I had nothing blooming indoors this year, early spring came and I was in Alabama due to my dad's cancer surgery. I'm hoping things will be relatively calm now through the rest of the spring and summer so I can once again regularly participate in the GBBD posts.

I'm so glad the weather is warmer now and I have flowers blooming again!


My young Kousa dogwood looks healthy, but it only has about three or four blooms this year. Hopefully as it ages it will bloom more. I have a late blooming hyacinth and the bees are already swarming the salvia. The purple wave petunias are some of the plants I grew over the winter that survived my time away. Most of the others didn't.


I have several clematis that are blooming.



The dianthus, 'Wine and Roses' weigelia, 'Karen' azaleas, allium, and pink double 'Knock out' roses, (only because I just planted it), are blooming. The peonies will probably bloom in a few days, I just hope they will bloom during a dry spell so we can enjoy the blooms a little longer. I look forward to seeing what everyone else has blooming in their gardens during this fine month of May!

    7 clematis! I have one that's about to bloom and am thrilled by this tiny show. Now I realize I don't have anything to brag about.

    Hi Robin - Wow, that's a heck of a lot of clematis! Such lovely purples and pinks. Your peony looks ready to burst, I'll cross my fingers for dry weather for you. Wow, you guys really spring ahead of us here in the Northwest, we don't have allium or peonies yet, that I've seen anyway. Happy Bloom Day, I hope you get to keep participating for many months to come!

    Your clematis is SO gorgeous! That's one thing I don't have in my garden that I keep telling myself I'm going to add. Maybe this year I will.

    And about poppy seeds... I don't know if you can eat all poppy seeds. I haven't been brave enough to eat anything but the bread seed variety. Since opium is also made from poppies it always made me leery. ;)

    Good morning,
    I always think of you as Robin, but of course you are called something different. Couldn't detect what though :-)

    Keeping Petunias through an Indiana winter is quite a feat.
    And you have fuchsias in flower already, when mine are still trying to decide whether they want to live or die.
    Your Clematis looks impeccable. Not a spot or hole in any petals. I am envious :-)

    I love clematis, but I only have henryii - a gift from a friend for my husband, Henry. I really enjoyed the album format. You have a beautiful garden.

    Beautiful blooms Robin! The clematis looks great. I may have to eventually get a Kousa, we lost a dogwood to deer this fall and need to replace it.

    Thanks for the comments. The clematis seem to be doing great this year. Two of them were just planted last year and are full of blooms. Must be all of the rain we've had!

    Jo, I grew the petunias from seed, which is actually quite easy to do, I've done for the last several winters. I'm not sure what to make of your comment about my name.

    Your collages are lovely this Bloom Day Robin. Glad you were able to participate this month. Hope your Peonies get a chance to shine without the rain interfering. Your Clematis are gorgeous today, I love the shades of purple & pink!

    Robin, I am jealous, too, of all those beautiful clematis. I have two, only because two different ones were accidentally planted in the one pot I bought:) So many lovely blooms in your garden.

    OMG! I have been looking for a dresser that type for months. I just put up a post about my Drexel recently but I've had it for months searching for something similar in its set.     Beautiful clematis. I should really get some for my garden someday. I like the dogwood flower too, I've never seen a yellow one.
