That is what I thought of when I saw this goldfinch picking the petals off of the zinnia this afternoon. I carefully pulled the curtains back and took these pictures through the window.
Robin...what a marvelous series of photos and what determination the Goldfinch has to reach his goal! Absolutely lovely photos! gail
ReplyDeleteI love those pictures I don't see many goldfinches around here. They are beautiful...Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteRobin,
ReplyDeleteExcellent photos!!! The gold finches here leave our zinnas alone. Tonight they flew into the garden to get to the sunflowers, we were sitting under them. A lot of U turns were made in flight.
Great pictures of a rotten little bugger! Makes you wonder when they just pull the petals off. Funny little birds.
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous sight!the colors are so pretty. How is your Mother-in law doing?Hope things are still improving.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,Ruth
Hahahahahahahaha :-)
ReplyDeleteSo pretty ~ makes me want to hang my thistle feeder so they'll come back to my yard. (I took it down for the summer.) I didn't know they liked zinnias either!
ReplyDeleteThose are just the sweetest photos!
ReplyDeleteVery nice photographs. I like the idea that they are working on zinnias. I don't grow them because of the mildew they usually got. I do have some cone flowers the finch love to eat too.
ReplyDeleteI liked the prose with the pictures.
Perfect captions for this series of photos. I bet the Goldfinch was thinking this too as it snacked.
ReplyDeleteToo funny! great photo shots.

And I would be thinking ... 'Hey! Cut that out! You're ruining my flower!'
ReplyDeleteLOL!
Great photos Robin!
What beautiful pictures! :o)
ReplyDeleteSincerely ~ Tricia Anne
I love goldfinches. Butter in flight. Zinnias may have to be added to my garden, Robin. These are great shots!
ReplyDeleteI love this series of photos, Robin! The goldfinches are so much fun to watch, but you have a real feast prepared for them!
ReplyDeleteHow delightful is that!!!! We have dozens and dozens of goldfinches that visit us in the winter (with their less-than-stellar drab winter coats) and I never saw them in the zinnias. How wonderful. Great captures.
ReplyDeleteOMG! This pictures made me smile!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE them!
Oh Robin...these are PERFECT! Great work!
ReplyDeleteThese photos made me instantly happy, Robin. Thank you for sharing them (and thanks to the goldfinch for posing for us. )
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty scene as he decimated your zinnia! ;-) The scamp.
ReplyDeleteA very sweet series of photos and I love your interpretation of them! Reminds me when I was a kid, picking petals off daisies in my moms garden!
ReplyDeleteso delighted that you captured this...i was wondering why my zinnias were missing petals.
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful, Robin. So that is what is happening to the zinnias! Your shots with all the brilliant colors are happily blinding. Thanks for these prize winning photos.
ReplyDeleteFrances
Robin, what wonderful pictures! I love goldfinches.
ReplyDeleteThat is absolutely adorable!!!!!!

ReplyDeleteI loved this series of photographs...

Beautiful photographs, lovely subjects....How wonderful to capture some of the special events in your garden. I love the Goldfinches and here, they enjoy Zinnias, Rudbeckias, and Echinaceas, among some other summer treats.
ReplyDeleteAWESOME!!! Kim
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to know that I am not the only one who has adorable goldfinches, destroying their lovely flowers! Good thing they are so cute. I am sure your neighbors think you are quite crazy too, just like mine. I'd invite them to see what I'm up to, but then they'll know I blog about their messy yard. LOL
ReplyDeleteRobin -- love the finches and those are amazing shots. My DH took some 2 or 3 posts ago on our fountain. They are so pretty, but ours have a full black back -- isn't that interesting? I don't know much about them -- we have gold finches and house finches -- we feed them a little Nyjer seed and they love it and keep coming back.
ReplyDeleteThat was a fun series. Very cute.
ReplyDeleteHope the birds don't eat my sunflowers, but if they do, I hope I get to watch.
Wow, great shots! I have been trying to get some pictures of finches in my garden for the past couple of weeks with nothing but blurry yellow streaks. Lucky you!

I just had to come and show Sweet Girl your birdie series!!! Kim
ReplyDeleteOh Robin, these are PRECIOUS! Love the colors and the personality of the goldfinch, which you captured perfectly!
ReplyDeleteGreat photos of that goldfinch. I've been trying for years to photograph them and they are too skittish for me.
ReplyDeletelove the goldfinch and your description.
ReplyDeleteMy first time here, your pictures are wonderful! Enjoyed my visit!
