Today I glanced out the window and noticed quite a few painted lady butterflies on the verbena. There were so many of them, that I almost didn't notice the buckeye.
This is the first time I've seen one in my garden! I only had a few minutes to spare before going to work, so I took these photos quickly from the window.
I would've loved to have had more time to take pictures of this lovely visitor.
I'm hoping maybe it will return tomorrow.
To spot the butterfly in the morning, makes your day amazing :)
ReplyDeleteThis is really surprised how you spotted that butterfly.
Thank you for sharing.
Beautiful buckeye... they are a treat to see fluttering around but having one in your very own garden is extra special.

Beautiful photos! The Buckeye is actually one of the 'regulars' here in my garden. Love them! Cameron
ReplyDeleteI have never seen one here, but what a beauty!

These photos of the buckeye are just delightful Robin. I love to see the butterflies little faces. I rarely see Buckeyes with their wings folded. They are about as pretty with folded wings as they are open. I hope it returns today so you can take more pictures. Your pictures are outstanding.
ReplyDeleteNow I know what to call that pretty thing that visits my garden. I'm terrible with names.
ReplyDeleteRobin, your photos are amazing! Girl! Buckeyes are one of my favorite butterflies. They're a regular here, too. Yesterday and today I've had a gazillion Gulf Fritillaries on my lantana. They must be gorging themselves for their journey. Stunning photos, Robin. I'm so impressed!
ReplyDeleteOh, those photos are certainly "frame worthy."

What beautiful photos! I love to watch them float through the yard. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteOMG !
ReplyDeleteBeautiful !
I'm so glad you were able to capture this butterfly and share it with us.
We seem to get the same few butterflies...maybe it's my garden.
How pretty those butterflies are and how lucky you are to find one in your garden. Great pics Robin, as always!
ReplyDeleteStunning photos, Robin! I was lucky to see one buckeye earlier this summer in my garden, but I haven't seen him since. I hope yours comes back to stay:)
ReplyDeleteOf all the beautiful swallowtails and elegant butterflies to see, the Common Buckeye is my favorite. You took those photos through your window?
ReplyDeleteWOW!
All I have left at my house are Skippers. They're all passing through now.
Oh I am quite envious of your buckeye butterfly! Here I am, living in the buckeye state, and I've never even seen one! You are so lucky Robin. Can you send some this way? Tell them they are many other "buckeyes" around here to make them feel at home!
ReplyDeleteThrough a few links I spotted your blog which I think very interesting for me, having quite the same interests as yours. I am French and my garden is in the south of France. I spend a lot of time taking photos of the butterflies in the garden, quite different from yours but as beautiful even if they are smaller.
ReplyDeleteGreat find Robin. I love seeing new birds & butterflies in my garden. I can't believe you took the photos thru the glass tho ~ they are so clear & sharp. I don't get the same results when I try that. I hope the Buckeye came back??
ReplyDeleteThat is one beautiful butterfly and some wonderful pictures.
ReplyDeleteIt makes me wonder if a Buckeye has ever visited my Verbena bonariensis this year! I have long wanted to see one of these in my garden. Perhaps they've been there (heaven knows just about everything else has!) and I missed it. Maybe someday!
ReplyDeleteRobin, as usual, your photos are fantastic!
Robin ... your photos are lovely!
ReplyDeleteWhat lovely, clear shots, Robin! I've never seen a buckeye here. I'll have to check their range.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you had time to snap a few shots. It's really beautiful.
Wow, I've never seen a butterfly like that before, just beautiful. New to your blog...enjoying it a lot!
