Blue, Blue Christmas
It is a somewhat blue Christmas for me this year since we are not able to go home to Alabama for the holidays. I'll miss seeing my family and I'll miss the 80 degree temperatures they will be having. That would certainly be a nice change from the ice and bitter cold we have been experiencing here in Indiana.
I sat at the table this morning drinking a second cup of coffee before heading to work and had the wonderful pleasure of seeing two very loud and brave blue jays make trip after trip to the patio to collect all of the peanuts I left for them.
Last winter I fed them acorns from my mom and dad's large oak trees. I was so looking forward to collecting even more this year.
They are such greedy little things! I'll have to ration the peanuts and just put a few out each morning, otherwise they would "eat me out of house and home".
Hopefully they will return each morning to collect their peanuts. If I'm home I'll be sitting there waiting with the camera to catch their antics.
This is one blue Christmas I don't mind having!
Beautiful pictures.I cerainly hope that this is all that will be 'blue' about your Christmas.Wishing you a Season filled with God's Blessings,Ruth

Robin, so sorry you couldn't make it home for Christmas. We never out grow that do we? The blue Jays are beautiful and I am sure keep you veru entertained. Something to look forward to this miserable winter.:)
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Great pictures. We have two sisters who won't be home, sigh.
ReplyDeleteGlad the birds are there to help cheer you.
Merry Christmas.
If you are suffering from a blue Christmas, this is the one to have. I love your blue jay photos, Robin.
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to miss a visit with family. Best wishes for a happy holiday at home this year.
Beautiful Blue Jays, Robin, So sorry you won't be visiting with family in Alabama today~~it's hard to be away from loved ones at Christmas. Wow, 80 degrees does sound nice!
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas.

(it was 64°F when we went to bed at 11 pm last night-- the frogs jumped back in the stream when I took Charm outside.)
What great photos! I saved the peanuts and homemade pretzels from my Christmas plate at a friend's to give our bluejays (we have five!), and of course they loved them. It's finally thawing out a bit here in PA; hope the same is true for you! And, like me, I know you'll be home for Christmas in your heart.
ReplyDeleteChristmas in Alabama and 80 degrees? I was just dreaming Robin ! Too bad you can't make it down there this year.
ReplyDeleteI wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and many blessings in the new year.
Great shots, Robin! I'll enjoy an Alabama Christmas for the both of us, okay? It's in the high 50's today, and sunny. Nice after a week or more of rain and frigid temps! Merry Christmas, dear!
ReplyDeleteYour photos are awesome!
ReplyDeleteSorry you couldn't go home for Christmas, but hope it was Merry anyway.
Robin,
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful bird- and a great camera to capture it with. You look like you're enjoying the new camera- I so enjoy your photos. Hope you had a Merry Christmas, even though you couldn't get home.
Sorry to hear that you don't get to go home for christmas Robin. Those blue Jays certainly do entertain one with their gluttonous antics. I wonder if they planted any of those acorns from your parents place? Maybe you will have a tree from home to take you back when you need to go home.
ReplyDeleteWhat lovely birds.
ReplyDeleteI wish you a Happy new Year.

I'm glad you are enjoying your 'blue jay' Christmas, Robin, and hope that's as blue as it gets for you! Sun lamps, light boxes...don't forget (they really do help!!).
ReplyDeleteSorry you can't get to see your family in AL. My mother is coming from NC to visit us this weekend and will be here until the New Year.
Every time I put nuts out the bluejays eat the entire bunch almost immediately. They definitely are stingy (and greedy)little birds. But like bluebirds, their color is so pretty. Fortunately the bluebirds have a nicer reputation:)
Merry Christmas! Jan
Awesome! I love the Blue Jay, Robin! Most photos I see of Blue Jays include a morsel in its beak :o)
ReplyDeleteI miss back home, too.
Hope your day was Merry,
Mary
Love these pictures...look so serene.
ReplyDeleteYou've had absolutely NO problems capturing great photos of Blue Jays Robin! I'm SO envious. I still struggle ~ they are so flighty? Maybe I'll just have to look at your pics instead! I'm hoping to try some homemade suet too, thanks for the motivation. Hope your Christmas was okay even tho you didn't get to go home. :-(
