You Might Be a Redneck If...

While a friend and I were returning home from visiting another friend at Riley's Children's Hospital today, I spotted these dogs on the roof of this house.

I thought it was so funny and it reminded me of the redneck jokes I had heard. The weather was horrible! It was sleeting and we were seeing so many accidents along the way. I couldn't believe these dogs were even out in the elements. They may have been stuck on the roof because it was probably a solid sheet of ice.

I am so thankful that everyone in my family made it home safely this evening. We had to park on the street because there was no way we could make it up our driveway.

I'm wishing all of you safety in your travels during this Christmas Season.

  1. Funny pictures, Robin. They remind me of another frozen-in-place story. My former swim coach is a wonderful and courageous man who has been confined to a wheelchair since a car accident years ago. He has continued to swim. A few years ago the team was practicing in an outdoor pool in the middle of winter (crazy? yes!), and my coach joined in for a workout. He was still swimming when the kids finished and filed into the locker room for showers. When he pulled himself out, his swim trunks unfortunately froze to the pool deck. He sat there shivering until some kids left the locker room and pulled him free. He still gets a chuckle out of this story! Happy holidays - VW

  2. That's crazy Robin ~ I wonder what they really were doing up there? You are so nice and thoughtful to wish everyone safe travels. With all the terrible weather across the country I would say it applies to most of us. I'm glad you arrived home safely and I hope the artic air retreats a bit soon so we can have a little reprieve.

  3. What an unusual sight. I am glad you made it home safe and sound. It was a scary drive to anyplace yesterday. Hopefully the weather will be better for all the travelers today.

  5. Dogs do the darnedest things!

Glad your drive was safe. I hate ice and sleet. I wouldn't mind a dusting of a pretty snow... not too much, just a little winter wonder. Should be careful what I wish for, right?

    Happy Holidays!

  14. Robin, I am like a child in a candy shop with these beautiful blogs. The name you chose, your bird photo's, everything is just beautiful. I would have loved to know why and how the dogs were on the roof. There are times I think of leaving Californa for a place with four distinct season..beautiful birds like you have instead of mostly house wrens, but then winter comes, and I think (as much as I love snow) I will stay. Still...then I look at those beautiful birds in your yard..and the thought returns.
Happy New Year, Robin. Your home is amazing!
