Finally!
Yesterday was a gloriously cool day and I spent just about the whole day in the yard working for a while then stopping to rest and take pictures. It was a wonderful day! It was made even better when I finally spotted a monarch in the my flower garden! I've been waiting and watching for them!
I've seen a lot more hummingbird activity in the last couple of days. The female is more bold than the male. She comes to the smaller feeder near the patio and the male prefers the one that is farther away.
My son and I removed two trees from the yard yesterday. One was a maple tree that was planted about five years ago. It was not healthy and was quite ugly. The other was a Bradford pear tree that was not in a good location and was not healthy either. It agonized me to remove trees but it was really for the best.
I've really enjoyed the cooler temperatures these last couple of days, I hope it last a while longer!

Yay for cool temps!!! It has been miserable here. I can only stay out till noon/1 and then I am done in! I miss the cool weather!!!
Your pictures are great!!! I enjoy watching the hummingbirds!
Your pictures are lovely. You even managed to photograph the butterfly and bird. I can never be successful with these moving creatures.
I love your photos this morning.
I posted a hummer, very large though, on my birds blog banner and you might like to see it.
Superb photos Robin.
The cooler weather and low humidity have been a delight here, too! Robin, the butterfly and hummer photos are wonderful captures! gail
After the oppressive heat of last week these past few days have been quite heavenly. Your Monarch and hummer photos are gorgeous.
Are you planting new trees?
Your monarch photos are fantastic, Robin!!! Love to see the hummers, too. We're still waiting for both here at Hawk's Haven.
Hi Robin! It looks like the heat from your area moved closer to us!Enjoy the cooler weather! What nice visitors you have in your garden! Images are absolutely wonderful - so bright and cheerful!
Like you, I have been waiting and waiting for the butterflies and hummers to appear. The hummers are few and far between this year, and I can't even begin to capture them by photo yet. And I finally captured my first butterfly on camera, and it was a new one for me, a question mark!
We could use some of those cooler temps..please send them over here. Wonderful shots of the monarchs and hummers. I saw a few monarchs early last month and now, nothing. hhmm.
Beautiful photos. We are only having cool days here. I wish for some sun. I have left a few milkweeds in the vegetable garden for the monarchs, but did you know they like mint as well. I have a field where mint has gone wild and in August there are clouds of monarchs out there. Amazing.
What beautiful photos, Robin! I am appreciating the cooler weather, too--a lot more is getting done in the garden this week. I have been seeing a butterfly flit about that looks like a monarch, but it never lands long enough for me to be sure. I've seen fewer hummingbirds this year, too. I'll just have to come here and enjoy yours:)
Lovely shots ............no more needs to be said
Wonderful shots! Have a safe and happy 4th!
Beautiful, Robin;-) You hold the 'secret' to great photography, that's for sure! Love the butterfly--I haven't seen any monarchs out this way, as of yet. In fact, I haven't seen many butterflies at all so far. I hope that will change before summer comes to an end!
Beautiful captures of the Monarch Butterfly as well as the Hummingbird.
Blessings,Ruth
Those hummer photos are just fantastic!
