Metamorphosis Monday- Mirror

During the summer I came across this dresser mirror at a garage sale. I didn't need a mirror like this but she was only asking a couple of dollars for it so I bought it anyway. I promptly stuck it under a bed and forgot about it.

I had a bare wall in the dining room and all summer long I kept looking at garage sales for a picture or mirror to go in that particular spot. I never found what I wanted and just gave up, knowing that eventually, I will come across something that will be perfect or close enough to satisfy me. I'm patient, (I'm very frugal too), so I can wait.

A few weeks ago I was in a painting mood and remembered the mirror that was under the bed. I spray painted it and propped it on the buffet in the dining room. I didn't want to hang it centered on the wall because I don't want it to look like a dresser with a mirror, (which is exactly what it is).

The beautiful Drexel dresser was another garage sale find. I bought it earlier in the spring for $100.00, and was perfect for this spot in the dining room.

Here is the mirror all decorated. I already had the evergreen wreath and the stash of florals to put on the wreath. So, this was a thrifty way to decorate the buffet for Christmas. Everything here was either purchased at a garage sale or it was something I already had. I'm not completely satisfied with the way the buffet looks, I need a runner and a few more things to finish it off.

The mirror isn't exactly what I wanted for the wall, but at least it isn't bare anymore!

I'm linking this post to Between Naps on the Porch for Met monday!

Good job, Robin! Well done and way to recycle things too. It looks great and very festive already. Mirrors are so wonderful at bringing in more light to darker spaces. Love what you've done with it. :-)

Oh, what a difference Robin. It makes such a pretty backdrop for your Christmas wreath. Your hutch looks so pretty all dressed up.

You're soooo talented at these things, Robin! And thank you so much for your warm words of encouragement. I think a lot of us go through these moments of 'should we/shouldn't we' where blogging is concerned. I'm actually feeling quite rejuvenated and appreciate the feedback from my fellow bloggers/gardening friends.

FANTASTIC! I don't think it looks anything close to a boring ol' dresser and mirror. It's perfect! Love the mirror white.

Wonderful Robin, it's stylish and not expensive, both very good things to be.

Love the wreath too!

Love what you did with the mirror and the wreath! Also, love the way the whole buffet looks. You mentioned it needing something to finish it off... along with a runner, what about putting one of the containers near the lamp on a different height... like on books (Christmas?) or something? Just a thought.

Robin, I love repurposing furniture as you've done so beautifully! I would never know that was a dresser and the mirror dressed for the holidays looks perfect. You are a clever designer and a great bargain shopper/finder. gail

Oh my, this looks wonderful. I think its just beautiful. You are right, it could use a runner. But at least your house is decorated. I still have yet to do that to my house...UGH.

Lovely indeed!!!
I love "up-using" like you have done.
Thank you for the gift of how fun it is to find, in my own things, the raw materials I need. So often I forget.
I wrote down, "Recommit to re-use" in 2010!
Thank you for this wonderful gift.
Merry Christmas,
Sherry
