Update on my Daddy

Thank you all for your prayers and comments regarding my dad. He had surgery yesterday to remove the upper left lobe of his lung and three ribs. He was unstable after surgery and things were "touch and go" for a few hours. What a difference a day makes! This morning the doctors were amazed at how well he is doing. He was even wanting to sit up and he ate a good breakfast!

His prognosis is still not good even with the surgery, chemo and radiation the doctor is giving him a 30% chance of survival. If anyone can beat this he can. He has complete faith in God, whatever his outcome. If it is his time, he is ready-but he isn't going without a fight! His attitude is amazing and God's grace and peace is shining through him. He is a precious man!

I'll be in Alabama a few more days and then I must get back to Indy. It's been a difficult and busy couple of weeks, but I'm so glad I was able to be here with my mom and dad through this.

The picture above is of my daddy on Easter holding two of his great granddaughters. He has always loved babies.

Again, thank you for your prayers and thoughts for our family, they are appreciated so much. Please continue to pray!

Will do, Robin! My own father had a second surgery yesterday and has also bounced back quickly. I'm hoping this one's the last! I think your father's attitiude is perfect: Do what you can, then leave it in God's hands. God bless!

I'm glad you were able to be with them and he has such a faith based attitude. What a trying time this must be for everyone. We will continue to pray for him and his recovery...and the rest of the family too. What a beautiful pic. Could one of the babies in this pic happen to belong to your niece that I know?

I'll be praying for your safe travels home. Tam

What a great attitude: if it's time, it's time--but I'll do my part to put it off for a while. All the best to him and to you.

Thank you for the update, dear Robin. We continue to hold him aand you and the rest of your family in our thoughts here in the wilds of Nova Scotia. I know this is hard on all of you. The prognosis sounds better though since he snapped back after the surgery rather quickly. Every day is a victory, isn't it. ((((((Robin))))))

I understand it is difficult for a loved one especially our parents who usually are not in the best of health anyway. Stay strong and my prayers are with you and your family. My step father just went through a series of chemo and other stuff. He is still experiencing some of the side effects. If it weren't for side effects I think we'd all feel better. My prayers...
