Budget Patio Makeover- Lowe's June Challenge -Part One

For the Lowe’s Creative Ideas Garden Club Network challenge for June, I chose, Option #2 – Furniture Fun "If you want to take a break from plant life for a few minutes, then you’ll want to go with this option.  This project focuses on enhancing your outdoor space with a new creative piece or even refurbishing something you already have into something truly eye-catching with the backdrop of your beautiful garden."

With our severe drought conditions here in Indiana, planting anything in the garden right now is not an option for me. I also had aging patio furniture that really needed some attention so it was an easy choice.
I'll start off by sharing part of the completed project, rather than starting with my ugly patio furniture! Please ignore the brown grass and dying shrubs, flowers and grasses in the background, it is very depressing.  I know this is not the beautiful garden backdrop that was suggested.

This patio set was given to me by my dear late mother for Christmas, eighteen years ago. Sadly, I didn't get anything of hers when she passed away two years ago, so the things that she has given to me over the years have become more and more precious to me.

Other than the faded hunter green and the rust, the set was still in pretty good condition and it is pretty comfortable.

My umbrella stand desperately needed some attention too. It had rusted and was leaving rust marks on the patio.

The umbrella was a free curbside find from three years ago and it still works well but it is faded and doesn't look very good. Thankfully, I had a new umbrella, (still in the box),  that I had purchased in April 2008 at Aldi's. I like planning ahead! :-)

Here it is again, all painted!  I primed and painted all of the pieces with paint purchased with my Lowe's gift card!

This was such a simple project that made a huge difference for our patio space. I wish I could have done it sooner! Over the last six years we have had several bouts of unemployment. When that happens priorities shift and buying a large quantity of spray paint and primer has not been a necessity. I am so thankful to Lowe's for the opportunity to spruce up around the home and garden! The project deadline is also a great incentive!

The birds here at Robin's Nesting Place have already given it their "stamp" of approval!

I'll be back tomorrow with part two of the Budget Patio Makeover!

Disclosure: As a blogger for Lowe’s Creative Ideas Garden Club Network I was provided with a Lowe’s gift card to purchase the materials for my project.

Your project does spruce up the patio. I know your feelings about the garden. At least you can do something positive for the patio.
